Beth Harmon was only eight years old when she lost her parents in a car accident. She was sent to the Methuen Home for Girls, where she quickly became addicted to the pills given to her for her anxiety. Despite her addiction, she discovered a passion for chess and began to excel at the game. She spent countless hours playing and studying, eventually becoming one of the best players in the world. However, her addiction followed her everywhere she went, and she struggled to find a balance between her love for chess and her need for pills. Despite her struggles, Beth continued to play and compete, always striving to be the best.
